Many days and hundreds of miles have passed since Mr. Alford and his burly wife Jenny sped down the east side of Towne Pass into the depths of Death Valley.  Beyond, they cycled into the largest city in Nevada, over Hoover Dam and down the Colorado River deep into the Grand Canyon State.  A steep climb on the longest stretch of Old Route 66 through the largest continuos Ponderosa Pine forest in the United States led them to a city that sits at 7,000 feet elevation and is named after a flagpole made from this same tree.

South, back to the heat of the Sonoran Desert they descended into the tall Suguaro Cactus and over the Mazatzal Mountains to "Arizona's Urban Heart".  After a restful day with Mr. Alford's childhood friend, they headed east again into the homeland of the indigenous people of the Southwest United States.

Mr. Alford is currently standing in a "Nation within a Nation" at the edge of a 200,000 cubic yard concrete structure that impedes the flow of the Gila River.  This particular barricade of water was constructed between 1924 and 1930 and is named after the 30th President of the United States.

Can you guess where in the World Mr. Alford is standing? Submit your answers to the "Where in the World is Mr. Alford Box" in the Brookside Library and Mr. Dailey will be drawing a name for a great prize in the near future.

As usual, Mr. Alford would like to remind all of his students to do their burpees!

Mr. Alford and his amazing wife Jenny departed Mono Lake and continued their bicycle journey south  through the Sierra Mountains into the arid desert of the southwest.  Mr. Alford's current location is at exactly 4956 feet above sea level.  As the crow flies, he is 50 miles southeast of the highest point in the United States and 30 miles northwest of the lowest point.  Mr. Alford is very near where the hottest temperature on earth has ever been measured.

Can you guess Where in the World is Mr. Alford?  Submit your answers to the Where in the World is Mr. Alford box at the Brookside Library and be entered to win a great prize.

Mr. Alford would also like to remind all of his students to do their burpees!
